Kay Arnold, Owner
I moved to the state of Washington with my husband, Bert, son, Klaus, and daughter, Michelle, in 1982. Bert was in the Navy and a two year tour turned into retirement for him and an insurance career for me.
My outside interests include gardening, reading, and entertaining my 10 grandchildren. I support the American Cancer Society, the YWCA live shelter, and, of course, the grandkids.
Chris Johnson, Personal insurance Agent
I’m a transplanted New Yorker and have lived in Washington for over 25 years. I’ve been a in the insurance business 20 years and a licensed agent for 18. The best part of my job are the people I meet and helping them get the coverage they need at the right price. Being a part of the Silverdale Team of Olympic Northwest Insurance allows me the opportunity to do just that.
My husband, Michael, and I have been happily married for 45 years! Together we have two children. Our daughter, Cody and son, Seth. And, can’t forget Cody’s husband, Nick. In my spare time I enjoy reading, spending time with my family (especially my grandson, Aldan) and adding to my ever-growing collection of pigs!
Emily Haugen, Personal Insurance Agent & CSR
I was born and raised here in Washington with a brief sojourn to England and California when my father was stationed there. I adore this area; there is so much natural beauty here. This is my first job in the insurance industry. I’ve already learned a lot since I started here, and I have worked y way up to being a licensed agent. I enjoy working for Olympic Northwest Insurance; it’s been a joy so far. I am excited for what the future has in store for me.
In my off time I stay busy. I love going hiking in the Olympic Mountains; they’re one of my favorite places to be. I have been involved with the Society for Creative Anachronism (medieval reenactment) for the last decade, and I go to SCA events on a regular basis. To stay busy at home, I enjoy a wide variety of crafts. I’ve got a large book collection and there’s nothing better than relaxing with book and a good cup of tea. Especially on a rainy day, of which we have many in the Pacific Northwest!
Kaitlyn Grose, Commercial Insurance Agent
It all began with a customer service job here at Olympic Northwest in 2012, and I am now working as the Commercial Insurance Agent! Working as the Commercial Assistant for two years was the best learning experience to prepare me for this position. I enjoy meeting everyone and being sure that I am providing the best options for each client’s business.
When I am not at work, I am shopping, painting, or watching a movie or show. More often than not, I’m watching The Office (Steve Carell is my favorite actor), and I highly recommend it to anybody looking for a good laugh. My favorite thing to paint is landscapes, and any of my friends could confirm that I just melt for a good sunset. Summer is my favorite season, I love taking the time to go on small weekend trips and explore our beautiful Pacific Northwest region.
Alexandra Sutton, Commercial Insurance Assistant
I was born in England but have grown up in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. I’ve worked a few different jobs before, ranging from retail to the restaurant business. I sustained an injury back in August of 2016, which has turned me into iron man. Or I should say woman. I ended up having surgery on my foot and because of the new foreign objects placed into my ankle; I made the switch to the insurance business. From the short period time that I have been here, I have already learned so many new things. I’m in the process of working to become a licensed agent. In the meantime, I’m working as an assistant to a wonderful commercial agent many of you know as Kaitlyn.
On top of being in the process of working to become a licensed agent, I’m working on preparing myself to be a first time mommy to a little girl. Expecting her arrival in September! In my spare time, I enjoy relaxing and going on adventures, spending time with my family, and hanging out with friends.
Kimberly Leenstra, Personal insurance Agent
I started working at Olympic Northwest in September of 2014 as a Customer Service Representative. I obtained my license and have been working as an agent since September of 2015. I grew up here in Port Orchard, and love running into familiar faces as well as meeting new ones!
My husband Leif and I live in Gig Harbor with our two children, Dallas & Zhendalia, and our dog, Pitchfork. We are new homeowners and plan to spend the next few years sprucing up the place! We look forward to making this a place that our children will always call home. We enjoy spending a lot of time together as a family. My personal hobbies include reading, thrift shopping and garage sale-ing in hunt for unique items. I love a bargain and have a passion for vintage styles and design. It’s always fun to find a hidden treasure!
Mike Eacrett, Personal Insurance Agent
I joined the insurance industry in 1991 when I worked for Met Life in Silverdale. In 1996 I went to work for General Insurance, which I then purchased in 2002. Kay Arnold and I met in 2003 and decided to merge my Port Orchard office with Olympic Northwest Insurance. I enjoy people, especially our customers and our team here at Olympic Northwest Insurance.
When I am not here, I am home enjoying time with my wife, Kathy. We live on Stretch Island in a home that has been in my family for over 100 years. Our time is spent fixing the place up, taking care of our yard and our vacation rental which is right next door, and being with family and friends when we can.
Kathy and I were high school sweethearts and grew up in Oak Harbor on Whidbey Island. We went our separate ways, but found each other again in 2009. Our goal is to make up for lost time! We both love the water, whether by boat, floating, or sitting down and taking in the view. We also like road trips, both in our car and on the motorcycle. Helping others is also something we enjoy.
We share four children between us, a lot of extended family, and some wonderful friends.
Paula Ryen, Customer Service Representative
I came to Washington State in 1972, after leaving my home where San Lorenzo, CA. It is a small town in the San Francisco Bay Area.
I began working for Kay Arnold at Olympic Northwest Mortgage in 1995 as a Mortgage Funder and eventually the Designator Escrow Officer and Closer for the Escrow department. I was there for the next 19 years. My husband and I then decided to retire in 2014.
After 1 year and a half of retirement, I received a call from Kay asking me if I would be interested in coming to work at our Port Orchard insurance office part-time as a customer service representative. I jumped at the chance and was excited for a change. I have been at this office now for just over a year and am so pleased to work with my managing Agent Mike Eacrett and Agent Kim Leenstra. We have great times and love all our customers.
